What's new in Burrow
The latest changes first, then what each version added. Items link to their article in the guide.
Burrow 1.0
- Light, Dark or System Every theme has a light and a dark version. Choose one in Customize ▸ Appearance, or follow your Mac.
- Your accent colour Pick an accent, or any colour, and it goes on top of whichever theme you use. Burrow keeps text and buttons readable.
- Drag to reorder Drag tabs left or right, and sidebar sections, favorites, folders in a group and saved searches up or down. The others slide aside, and the new order is kept.
- Favorites are yours Add any folder by dropping it on the Favorites title or with Add to Sidebar ▸ Favorites. Rename any favorite, and hide the built-in ones. Yours appear in ⌘K and the Go menu as Go to …; built-ins keep shortcuts like ⇧⌘H for Home.
- Smoother scrolling Long lists in big folders scroll smoothly.
- Free trial and license Try Burrow free for 14 days. A license is $19 once, for 2 Macs with a year of updates.
- New group The sidebar's New group asks for a name, and can start the group with the folder on screen.
- New folders in Review Changes A folder git doesn't track yet now lists the files inside it as added.
- Quick tooltips Every icon-only button says what it does after a moment, the window's top bar included.

Getting started
- Trial and license 14 days free, then a $19 license for 2 Macs.
- Vim keys j/k/h/l, gg and G in the file list.
- Getting help Ask a question or report a problem, straight from Burrow.
- Uninstalling Burrow Hand "Show in Finder" back to Finder, free your license, then move Burrow to the Trash.
- Updates Burrow checks for new versions once a day and installs them when you say so.

- Copy paths, contents and data URIs The file's path, its text, or the file itself as base64.
Finding things
- Saved Searches Keep a search in the sidebar; it's always up to date.
Preview
- Font preview Every style of a font, set in your own words.
- Hex view A look inside files nothing else can show.
- Looking into pictures Zoom, actual pixels, the palette and camera details.
Notes
- Export a note As a PDF or a web page, as it looks in the preview.
- Previews stay offline Notes never fetch from the web unless you say so.
- Tasks and due dates Checkboxes you can tick, with Obsidian Tasks dates.
Databases
- Board, Gallery and Calendar The same files as cards, pictures or dates.
Images & PDFs
- Combine into PDF One PDF from several PDFs and pictures.
- Copy Text from Image Read the text in a picture or a scanned PDF.
- Make Image Sets @1x, @2x and @3x copies from one picture.
- Remove location and metadata Before you share a photo.
- Remove Background Cut out a picture's subject.
Compare & sync
- Compare and sync folders What differs between two folders, and making them match.
Space & cleanup
- Find Duplicates Files with exactly the same contents.
